Role overview

This role sits at the centre of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society’s governance and executive operations, connecting the Executive Director’s office, Board and Council, committees and senior leadership. The position supports modern, effective governance while providing high-touch executive support.

Governance responsibilities

• Prepare agendas, minutes, briefing notes, presentations and committee-chair reports.
• Coordinate Board and Council materials and maintain policies, terms of reference, succession and board-development documents.
• Track actions through completion and support nominations, orientation and onboarding of Council members and committee participants.
• Provide technical and administrative support during leadership and strategy meetings.

Executive support

• Manage the Executive Director’s calendar, meetings, travel, correspondence and expenses.
• Facilitate communication with employees, members, partners and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Post-secondary education.
• At least 10 years of board-governance and executive-support experience.
• Hands-on experience supporting a board or governing council.
• Excellent writing, editing, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Strong judgment, discretion and proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based platforms.
