About the opportunity
Sitka Foundation is recruiting a Program Officer, Grants and Impact to join its philanthropy team in Vancouver.
The position supports a private foundation focused on environmental conservation and biodiversity. It combines grant-portfolio management with monitoring, evaluation and learning work, and will collaborate closely with the Foundation’s granting team and partners.
Key responsibilities
• Manage a grant portfolio from development through closure and maintain relationships with grant partners.
• Support participatory and trust-based grantmaking practices.
• Research new opportunities in the charitable sector that align with Sitka’s priorities.
• Monitor grants for compliance with Canadian charitable rules.
• Design and maintain the Foundation’s monitoring, evaluation and learning framework.
• Turn evaluation and grantmaking lessons into clear reporting and impact narratives for internal, Board and partner audiences.
Qualifications
Five to seven years of grants or program-management experience, preferably in philanthropy.
Advanced degree in a field related to biodiversity and a strong understanding of nature and biodiversity issues, particularly in Western Canada.
Experience with monitoring, measurement, evaluation and learning; strong relationship management, facilitation, research, writing and organizational skills; understanding of the environmental funding landscape in British Columbia; and ability to work independently in a small team.
Eligibility to work in Canada is required.
Additional information
Vancouver, British Columbia. Permanent, full-time role reporting to the Executive Director.
Base salary: $120,000–$140,000 CAD, plus health benefits, professional-development support and paid vacation.
The Foundation follows a hybrid model with regular in-person and remote work. Some travel and evening work may be required.
