Role description
The opportunity
VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation is recruiting an Associate / Vice President, Philanthropy to provide senior leadership across major and transformational giving.
The role is part of the Foundation’s operational leadership team and has accountability for philanthropy programs representing approximately $140 million in annual raised revenue. The successful candidate will lead 14 experienced frontline fundraisers as well as philanthropy administration.
Key responsibilities
• Lead strategy and performance across Transformational Giving, Major Gifts, Gift Planning & Estate Administration and Philanthropy Administration.
• Establish annual operational and financial plans and longer-term business priorities.
• Coach leaders and build a high-performing, collaborative fundraising culture.
• Grow multi-year major and transformational gift revenue.
• Strengthen pipeline management, fundraising reporting and donor strategy.
• Build senior relationships with donors, volunteers, physicians, clinical partners and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to major campaign strategy and execution.
Qualifications
Significant non-profit experience with progressive senior management responsibility for philanthropy programs, teams and volunteers is required. Candidates should bring strategic leadership, experience coaching fundraising leaders, and extensive major-gift, planned-giving and transformational-philanthropy experience. Strong donor strategy, stakeholder influence, people leadership, cross-functional collaboration and business writing skills are important. Knowledge of healthcare philanthropy and complex campaign fundraising is expected.
Additional information
Vancouver, British Columbia. Full-time. Target hiring range: $190,800–$233,200, plus potential organizational performance bonus up to 9%, benefits and pension. Closing date: November 8, 2026. The Foundation office is on the Vancouver General Hospital campus.
