Vice President, CMHC Origination

Thorek/Scott & Partners is recruiting an experienced Vice President, CMHC Origination for a long-established private construction and commercial mortgage lender with a strong presence in Canadian real-estate finance.

The mandate is to own and lead the Ontario market and build a pipeline of CMHC-insured multi-family financing opportunities. The successful candidate will combine business development, relationship management, financial analysis and transaction execution while working closely with internal underwriting and lending teams from initial opportunity through funding.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a strong pipeline of CMHC-insured multi-family mortgage opportunities across Ontario, with a focus on multi-family owners and developers.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with owners, investors, developers, brokers, property managers and other real-estate professionals.
• Assess prospective financing opportunities and understand borrower objectives.
• Structure CMHC-insured financing solutions aligned with property characteristics and client needs.
• Prepare and present financing opportunities to internal underwriting and credit teams.
• Work with internal stakeholders to move transactions efficiently from initial opportunity through funding.
• Serve as the primary relationship contact for clients and referral partners throughout the origination process.
• Represent the lender in the Ontario commercial real-estate market through industry relationships and business-development activity.

• 7+ years of experience in commercial mortgage lending, mortgage origination, commercial real-estate finance or a closely related field.
• Strong record of generating new business and building a consistent transaction pipeline.
• Deep understanding of CMHC-insured multi-family financing and the broader Canadian commercial mortgage market.
• Strong financial and analytical skills, including the ability to understand property-level financial statements, cash flow, valuations and financing structures.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality client service.
• Self-motivated, entrepreneurial approach and comfort taking ownership of business-development activity.

• Location: hybrid / Toronto, Ontario, with responsibility for the Ontario market.
• Scope: significant ownership of the firm’s CMHC-insured multi-family origination growth in Ontario, building on an established platform and existing industry relationships.
