Role description
## Opportunity
Strategic Way Consulting is seeking a Program Manager for an early-stage new-nuclear initiative based in Tiverton, Ontario. The position may be structured as full-time permanent work or a long-term contract with potential transition to permanent employment. It is a hybrid arrangement requiring three days onsite and two days offsite each week. The program encompasses site preparation, civil and industrial infrastructure, utilities, construction readiness, procurement, engineering coordination and the workforce and logistics planning needed before major nuclear capital work can proceed. The employer welcomes transferable experience from other complex regulated capital projects and does not require every candidate to have a previous nuclear project.
## Program responsibilities
- Develop and maintain integrated plans for major program workstreams, objectives and delivery milestones.
- Define scope, deliverables, work packages, dependencies and responsibilities with project stakeholders.
- Coordinate the engineering, civil works, construction-readiness and site infrastructure planning teams.
- Track schedules, program costs, budgets, forecasts and overall performance.
- Plan and monitor procurement activities, service-provider contracts and commercial commitments.
- Manage changes in scope, risk, schedule or resource availability and communicate their impacts.
- Maintain risk registers, mitigation plans and decision records for a safety-conscious environment.
- Lead cross-functional coordination among engineering, construction, supply chain, project controls and executive teams.
- Ensure program work respects applicable quality, safety, governance and regulatory obligations.
- Support planning of workforce capacity, mobilization, site logistics and critical equipment or utility requirements.
- Prepare management reports, progress summaries and escalations for senior stakeholders.
- Coordinate contractors, suppliers and project partners to resolve interfaces and delivery issues.
- Promote continuous improvement and efficient decision-making throughout the early project stages.
## Work arrangements
- Tiverton, Ontario, with three days onsite and two days offsite each week.
- Permanent full-time or longer-term contract arrangement, with potential for a permanent position.
- Compensation and benefits depend on the agreed employment arrangement and assignment.
Qualifications
## Experience and qualifications
- Ten years or more of program or project management experience involving major capital investment, engineering, infrastructure or construction.
- Degree in engineering, construction management, business or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated capacity to manage complex multidisciplinary programs with substantial schedules, budgets and risks.
- Experience with procurement, contractors, project controls and executive stakeholder communication.
- Strong leadership, planning, negotiation and organizational skills.
- Background in nuclear energy is valued but transferable experience in mining, oil and gas, utilities and other regulated industries may be suitable.
- PMP, P.Eng., MBA, PgMP or similar qualifications are assets, not universally mandatory credentials.
- Willingness to work onsite in Tiverton for the required weekly schedule.
