President & CEO – YMCA of Northern Alberta

About the opportunity

YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking a President & CEO to provide strategic direction and organizational leadership across a large, multi-site charitable organization.

Reporting to a volunteer Board of 18 Directors, the CEO oversees approximately 1,400 professionals and 400 volunteers across Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Red Deer and Wood Buffalo. The organization operates health, fitness and aquatic centres, community centres, community programs and a large licensed-childcare network.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the current strategic plan and prepare the organization for its next planning cycle.
• Build, mentor and retain a cohesive executive leadership team across multiple regions.
• Oversee financial health, operational performance, program outcomes and continuous improvement.
• Maintain a collaborative relationship with the Board and support strong governance.
• Build partnerships with governments, industry, community organizations and YMCA networks.
• Lead a culture of philanthropy, donor engagement and an anticipated major fundraising campaign.

Proven organizational leadership and change-management experience, including building and leading a cohesive leadership team in a complex multi-site organization.

Demonstrated ability to translate vision into action, maintain staff engagement through change and lead at significant organizational scale.

Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience, Board-reporting experience, strong people leadership and a demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of people and communities are expected.
