Role description
A Canadian healthcare technology company is seeking a Head of Research & Development.
The role
This newly created leadership position reports to the Chief Medical Officer, with a dotted-line relationship to the Vice President, Product.
The Head of R&D will lead the company’s research, development and innovation strategy for decentralized diagnostic technologies and patient-focused digital solutions.
Key areas include:
• Idea discovery and hypothesis testing.
• Research and development of new products and services.
• Building and aligning an internal R&D function with other teams.
• Supporting implementation and commercialization plans.
• Preparing proposals, literature reviews and technical documents.
• Creating a streamlined and forward-looking R&D and innovation approach.
The role is based in the Greater Toronto Area and combines scientific leadership with the development of an internal R&D organization.
Qualifications
Requirements
• Master’s degree or PhD with expertise in epidemiology, laboratory medicine or a related field.
• 10+ years of scientific, medical or business leadership experience.
• Experience in a research-based laboratory, pharmaceutical or academic environment.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver innovation while building and leading an effective internal R&D organization.
• Broad healthcare expertise and strong scientific leadership.
