Black Creek Community Farm Lead (Interim)

About the opportunity

FoodShare Toronto is recruiting an interim leader for Black Creek Community Farm, an eight-acre urban farm serving the Jane and Finch community. The 18-month contract is intended to provide leadership continuity during the incumbent’s parental leave.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the farm program and support its community-driven food-justice mandate.
• Provide leadership to staff, programs and operational priorities during the interim period.
• Work with community members, partners, donors and other stakeholders.
• Support budgeting, grants, fundraising, stakeholder relationships and organizational strategy.
• Continue FoodShare’s commitments to anti-racism and equitable food systems in the farm’s work and community relationships.

The mandate combines community leadership, program oversight, operations and relationship-building in an urban-agriculture and food-justice setting.

Qualifications

• Executive-level experience is listed by the current public posting.
• Relevant capabilities include budgeting, community engagement, donor relations, equity and inclusion, fundraising, grants, stakeholder management and strategy.
• Ability to lead a community-focused organization or program through an interim period.
• Commitment to food justice and anti-racist organizational practice.
