Chief Estimator

Senior hybrid estimating leadership role in Alberta with an established infrastructure contractor operating in the power and utilities sector. The Chief Estimator leads major-project pursuits, particularly transmission-line and substation work, and owns estimating strategy, commercial positioning and pricing integrity from early opportunity assessment through final contract negotiations.

Key responsibilities
• Lead estimating strategy and pricing development for large, complex civil and utility pursuits.
• Define estimating approach, level of detail and resourcing based on project size, complexity and risk.
• Validate quantities, productivity assumptions, construction methods, sequencing and execution strategies.
• Coordinate closely with Operations, Engineering and delivery teams to align estimates with constructability and regional labour conditions.
• Identify and price commercial risks, contingencies, allowances and strategic assumptions.
• Review contractual terms and commercial conditions with clients, subcontractors and vendors.
• Lead internal governance and executive pricing reviews and continuously improve estimating tools, benchmarks and cost databases.
• Mentor estimating and proposal teams.

Qualifications
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field; at least 15 years of estimating/project-delivery experience; demonstrated leadership of large major-project estimates; strong knowledge of EPC and alternative delivery models; proficiency with estimating software such as InEight; and strong commercial, analytical and stakeholder-communication skills.
