Executive Chef, Fine Dining Restaurant

Role context

Dietzel International is recruiting an Executive Chef for a well-known restaurant and hospitality group in Whistler, British Columbia. The property operates a high-end fine-dining kitchen focused on Pacific Northwest cuisine, seasonal farm-to-table ingredients and a strong wine program. The role reports to the Culinary Director and leads the overall culinary department.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full culinary operation and maintain high food-quality and service standards.
• Manage food-production systems, purchasing and menu development.
• Hire, train, coach and develop the culinary team.
• Lead a kitchen brigade of approximately 30 chefs.
• Manage food and labour costing, inventory controls and operational execution.
• Collaborate closely with front-of-house leaders, marketing and other department heads.
• Drive customer satisfaction, employee engagement and a positive professional kitchen culture.

• Minimum 6 years of culinary-management experience in busy upscale dining or comparable first-class hotel environments.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, decision-making and diplomatic people-management skills.
• Advanced culinary craftsmanship and a hands-on management style.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization and multitasking.
• Excellent analytical ability and proficiency in food/labour costing and inventory control.
• Red Seal or equivalent is preferred.
• Strong computer skills and excellent customer-relations ability.

Compensation and benefits

The employer advertises a comprehensive package including salary, tips, extended benefits and bonus. Temporary accommodation in Whistler can be provided for up to six months to support relocation.
