Role description
A leading flooring manufacturer is seeking an Operations Manager for its Saint-Laurent / Greater Montreal operation. The role is responsible for day-to-day warehouse and branch operations, inventory accuracy, logistics, customer service, safety and team leadership. The manager oversees receiving, storage, picking, packing and shipping, ensures inventory movements and discrepancies are accurately reflected in the ERP, assigns daily priorities and uses operational data and KPIs to improve execution.
Logistics responsibilities include coordinating deliveries, working with carriers, monitoring freight rates and transportation costs, and resolving delivery or operational issues affecting customers. Depending on branch needs, the role may also oversee parts of order entry, billing or accounts receivable and works closely with internal commercial and support teams. The manager leads supervisors and warehouse employees, establishes clear expectations, supports onboarding and training, manages performance and works within a unionized environment and collective-agreement requirements. Health and safety is a major component: the position maintains warehouse safety practices, training, inspections and corrective actions in accordance with Quebec requirements. The Operations Manager is also expected to identify process improvements that increase efficiency, inventory accuracy, transportation performance, service quality and cost control.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum four years of progressively responsible operations-management experience in warehousing, distribution, logistics or an industrial environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading warehouse/distribution employees and supervisors.
• Experience working in a unionized environment and with collective-agreement requirements.
• Strong inventory-management and ERP-system experience.
• Transportation-provider management is an asset.
• Experience supporting or managing a warehouse health-and-safety program is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse, inventory, distribution and transportation operations.
• Leadership, prioritization, organization, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to use data and KPIs to manage performance and improve processes.
• Customer-service orientation and knowledge of Quebec occupational health and safety requirements.
• Comfortable working hands-on in a warehouse environment, including regular standing and walking and occasional lifting in the approximately 25–50 lb range, with accommodations as applicable.
