Role description
About the opportunity
Northumberland County is recruiting a Manager of Infrastructure through Feldman Daxon. Reporting to the Associate Director of Engineering, the position provides engineering design and project-management leadership for Public Works capital projects involving transportation, waste management and County facilities.
Key responsibilities
• Lead the core engineering team, including engineering, project management, technical, corridor-management and contract-administration roles.
• Manage municipal capital projects from planning and design through tendering, construction administration and delivery.
• Prepare and review drawings, engineering studies, specifications, design calculations, plans and cost estimates.
• Prepare technical and contract specifications and tender drawings for transportation, waste and facility projects.
• Participate in contractor meetings, public meetings and County committees and coordinate with consultants, utilities, developers and government agencies.
• Review development applications and their impacts on County infrastructure.
• Track project finances and support capital and operating budget preparation.
• Contribute to long-term asset planning for transportation, waste and facilities, including 10+ year maintenance and construction plans.
The role is based in Cobourg, Ontario.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent education and/or experience in a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager, including at least 5 years in supervision or management.
• PEO or OACETT membership is preferred.
• LEED AP BD+C or a comparable sustainable-building designation is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of relevant engineering standards, codes and legislation.
• Strong capital and operating budget skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence; satisfactory criminal background check required before employment.
Additional information
Salary range: $114,716–$143,400. Northumberland County also lists health plans, professional development, OMERS defined-benefit pension, an employee and family assistance program, and flexible work options for eligible positions.
