Role description
About the opportunity
Feldman Daxon is recruiting a Senior Health and Safety Coordinator for a one-year contract in Alberta. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the position supports implementation of health and safety standards, regulatory compliance and day-to-day safety performance in an operational site environment.
Key responsibilities
• Implement established health and safety standards, policies, procedures and the Safety Management System.
• Conduct hazard assessments, workplace inspections, incident investigations and root-cause analyses.
• Provide practical health and safety guidance and coaching to site leaders and employees.
• Develop, deliver and coordinate safety training and onboarding.
• Conduct audits, assessments and verification activities and follow up on corrective actions.
• Maintain reports, dashboards, action plans and performance metrics related to compliance and incident trends.
• Review safety data and emerging risks and recommend practical improvements.
• Support Joint Health and Safety Committees and other site initiatives.
The position primarily works at and travels to the assigned work site. Periodic travel to Ontario may also be required for training, meetings or other business needs.
Qualifications
• University degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
• 3–5 years of progressive health and safety experience, preferably in an industrial or operational environment.
• Strong working knowledge of safety practices, systems and applicable legislation.
• Practical experience with inspections, hazard assessments, audits and incident investigations.
• Ability to coach leaders and employees on safe work practices and translate findings into corrective actions.
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Working toward a recognized professional health and safety designation.
• Microsoft 365 and safety-management/reporting systems experience is an asset.
Additional information
One-year contract. Salary: $90,000–$95,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Flexible working hours are required to support site operations and varying shift start times.
