Role description
About the opportunity
The Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP) is recruiting its next President and Chief Executive Officer, with the appointment expected to begin in Spring 2027 or soon after.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO provides strategic and operational leadership and is responsible for advancing CAGP’s mission and implementing its 2025–2029 strategic plan.
Key responsibilities
• Lead the organization’s strategy, operations and long-term sustainability.
• Oversee financial health, programs, membership growth and organizational resources.
• Lead and support a remote-first team of 11.
• Serve as CAGP’s principal spokesperson with members, Chapters, partners, governments and the charitable sector.
• Serve as Executive Director of the CAGP Foundation under its service agreement, including annual planning, budgeting, compliance, fundraising and donor stewardship.
Qualifications
Senior leadership experience in the non-profit sector is required, ideally within a national membership organization. The candidate should understand governance best practices, financial planning and budgeting, organizational risk and the regulatory environment for registered charities. Experience developing donor and sector relationships, leading an engaged remote team and acting as an organizational spokesperson is important. English/French proficiency is a strong asset.
Additional information
Remote-first role. Candidates must live close to a national airport and travel regularly. Salary range: $150,000–$170,000, with employer-paid benefits, matching RRSP contributions, professional-development funding and paid vacation. Upcoming vacancy due to retirement.
