Role description
About the opportunity
The University of British Columbia is recruiting a Vice President, Students, with the appointment expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2027.
Reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor, the Vice President, Students is the institutional leader for student housing and community services, student health and wellbeing, athletics and recreation, and career development across UBC’s campuses.
Key responsibilities
• Provide cohesive strategic leadership across nine teams led by senior leaders.
• Ensure student-facing services operate through a coordinated, student-centred approach.
• Lead institutional structures and programs that strengthen the student experience and student wellbeing.
• Support collaboration across academic, personal, career and community services.
• Contribute as a member of the President’s Executive Team to university-wide priorities and decision-making.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a substantial record of executive leadership over a complex and diverse student-services portfolio in a large research-intensive academic institution; multi-campus experience is a strong asset. Experience should include university-wide policy, operational planning, financial and budget accountability and leadership of new campus initiatives. An undergraduate degree is required and a graduate degree is preferred.
