Role description
The opportunity
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation Hamilton is recruiting a Manager, Principal Giving Program to support the Foundation’s highest-priority fundraising opportunities.
Reporting to the Vice-President, Development, the Manager serves as a strategic advisor and portfolio manager and contributes to the growth of gifts of $1 million and above.
Key responsibilities
• Develop strategies for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, recognizing and stewarding principal gifts.
• Support the President and CEO, Vice-President Development, Director Development, hospital leaders and volunteers with top donor prospects.
• Manage prospect pipelines, moves management and fundraising performance reporting.
• Coordinate donor meetings and prepare proposals, correspondence, briefing notes and executive materials.
• Use data and analytics to strengthen donor acquisition, retention and long-term engagement.
• Maintain accurate donor records and help coordinate stewardship activities.
• Collaborate across Development, Events, Marketing and Communications and the Annual Fund.
Qualifications
Progressive experience in major-gift fundraising, fundraising operations or donor-centred program delivery is sought. Experience supporting senior leaders is an asset. The role requires excellent writing, research, communication and presentation skills, strong organization and program-management capability, relationship-building skills, strategic thinking and discretion. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising software is important. Healthcare philanthropy experience and a university degree or college diploma are assets.
Additional information
Hamilton, Ontario. Full-time hybrid role with three days per week at the Foundation office and two days from home. Salary range: $81,000–$90,000, plus HOOPP pension and a comprehensive benefits package. Closing date: November 1, 2026.
