Director of Finance (Long-Term Care)

About the opportunity

Maxwell Management Group is recruiting a Director of Finance for a mission-driven healthcare and seniors-services organization in Ontario. Reporting to the Executive Director / CEO, the Director leads the organization's financial operations, reporting, planning, compliance and long-term financial sustainability while also strengthening processes, systems and team effectiveness.

Financial reporting and compliance

• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
• Ensure reporting is accurate, timely and useful to leadership and the Board.
• Maintain compliance with Ontario long-term-care legislation and provincial funding requirements.

Budgeting and planning

• Lead annual operating and capital budgeting.
• Monitor cash flow and support financial planning across the organization.
• Provide analysis that supports operational decisions, redevelopment, capital planning and long-term sustainability.

Process improvement and team leadership

• Improve financial processes, systems and reporting capabilities.
• Strengthen finance operations and encourage a proactive, service-oriented finance culture.
• Mentor and support finance and administrative team members.
• Help improve decision support for leaders across the organization.

Funding, audit and controls

• Lead Ministry reporting, funding submissions, subsidy reconciliations and required financial submissions.
• Oversee audit processes and act as the primary liaison with external auditors.
• Strengthen internal controls and financial-accountability practices.
• Oversee resident trust accounts and accurate billing for accommodation and services.

Strategic contribution

The role combines hands-on finance leadership with broader organizational support. The successful candidate is expected to be comfortable working strategically while remaining close to the operational details that affect reporting, compliance and financial performance.

• CPA designation required.
• University degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business Administration.
• Progressive finance-leadership experience, ideally in healthcare or long-term care.
• Ontario non-profit or municipal-sector experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of PSAB or IFRS accounting standards.
• Proficiency with PointClickCare, Sage or comparable ERP / financial systems is valuable.
• Ability to build relationships, mentor teams and communicate financial information to non-finance leaders.

Location published as Ontario. Annual salary range: $150,000–$160,000, plus four weeks of vacation, comprehensive benefits and RRSP matching. Named recruiter: Hilary Anderson.
