Senior Construction Project Manager

About the opportunity

ML6 is recruiting a Senior Construction Project Manager for a growing organization involved in the design, manufacturing and delivery of housing in Canada. The position leads multiple concurrent multi-family residential projects across the Greater Toronto Area, from preconstruction through delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Independently manage several construction projects through preconstruction, design development, execution and completion.
• Build and maintain project budgets, cost plans, cash-flow forecasts, schedules and cost-to-complete forecasts.
• Identify cost, schedule and delivery risks and develop corrective actions.
• Prepare estimates from early design through tender and hard-bid stages.
• Lead procurement, bid evaluation, negotiations and award recommendations for trades and suppliers.
• Administer consultant agreements, subcontracts, purchase orders and change orders.
• Lead value engineering, constructability reviews and other preconstruction activities.
• Coordinate consultants and key planning, permitting, tender and IFC deliverables.
• Support project quality assurance and cost benchmarking.
• Lead, mentor and develop project staff and act as a senior escalation point for complex project or site issues.

The role requires travel between project sites in Ontario as needed.

• Post-secondary education in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of progressive construction experience, ideally in multi-family residential or comparable commercial projects.
• Demonstrated experience independently leading multiple concurrent projects.
• Experience leading or mentoring Project Managers, Project Coordinators and other project staff.
• Strong preconstruction, estimating, procurement, cost-control, contract-administration and project-delivery experience.
• Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, construction safety, permitting and municipal approvals.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen.
• JDE, MS Project, AutoCAD and/or Procore experience is an asset; PMP is an asset.
• Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence.
