Chief of Family Medicine

About the opportunity

Joseph Brant Hospital is seeking a physician leader to serve as Chief of Family Medicine, reporting to the Chief of Staff.

The Department supports much of JBH’s inpatient care through its hospitalist program and also includes Palliative Care, Family Medicine Obstetrics and community-based Family Medicine.

Key leadership priorities

• Evolve models of care with attention to quality, accountability, sustainability, capacity and patient flow.
• Build cohesion, trust and shared purpose across the Department’s areas of practice.
• Strengthen physician engagement, professionalism, collaboration, transparency and equity.
• Lead physician workforce planning, recruitment, retention, mentorship and succession.
• Support implementation and optimization of Epic and other data and digital tools.
• Strengthen integration with community family physicians and health-system partners.

Family physician licensed, or eligible for licensure, with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Progressive physician-leadership experience in a hospital, community, academic or comparable healthcare environment. Hospitalist or other inpatient-care experience is highly valued, while community family physicians with strong hospital understanding and leadership experience may also be considered.

Strong relationship-building, change leadership, communication and influencing skills, with a demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, equity and patient-centred care.
