Role overview
Red Seal Recruiting is recruiting a Chief Operating Engineer for a food-manufacturing facility in Concord/Vaughan. The role oversees critical utilities including ammonia refrigeration, steam boilers, air compressors and related equipment and combines hands-on troubleshooting with preventive maintenance, compliance and reliability leadership.
Responsibilities
The engineer maintains operating logs and inspection readiness, coordinates external contractors, guides operating staff and supports utility upgrades and efficiency initiatives. The position is responsible for safe and compliant operation of plant systems and includes after-hours response for refrigeration or boiler emergencies when required.
Qualifications
- Refrigeration Class B or 3rd Class Operating Engineer certificate.
- Approximately 2–3 years of ammonia-refrigeration experience.
- Strong boiler, refrigeration and industrial-utilities knowledge.
- Effective communication and troubleshooting.
- CO2 refrigeration is an asset.
- Food/beverage manufacturing, CMMS and GMP/HACCP/WHMIS are assets.
