Senior Buyer

Reimer Associates is recruiting a Senior Buyer for a high-performing procurement team in Calgary supporting a large, fast-paced retail and distribution environment. The position carries responsibility for purchasing decisions across multiple warehouses and requires balancing lead times, inventory levels, customer demand and vendor performance. The Senior Buyer manages a significant vendor portfolio, develops category and supplier strategies and uses data and market intelligence to improve fill rates, inventory turns and purchasing income. The role also contributes to team capability by mentoring buyers and supporting a collaborative, solution-oriented procurement culture. The environment is complex, high-volume and consumer-driven, with direct influence on service levels, profitability and operational performance.

Candidates should bring at least five years of procurement experience, ideally in retail, convenience, grocery, food, consumer goods, distribution or offshore sourcing. Strong vendor management, negotiation and category-strategy skills are required, along with comfort operating in fast-moving, margin-sensitive product categories. Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, is important. The employer values a collaborative and flexible problem-solving mindset and welcomes broad career backgrounds. Experience in large multi-site procurement operations, ERP implementations or system transitions, and exposure to both structured corporate and entrepreneurial environments are assets.

Based in Calgary and expected to work in the office five days per week. The entire team is located in Calgary, creating a highly collaborative and hands-on working environment.
