Role description
The opportunity
Opportunities New Brunswick is recruiting a Chief Financial Officer to join its senior leadership team and provide broad leadership across finance, accounting and internal audit.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO also has a significant client-facing mandate supporting private-sector investment and economic development in New Brunswick.
Key responsibilities
• Lead finance, accounting and internal audit functions.
• Structure, assess and negotiate complex transactions and investment opportunities.
• Advise the Minister, Deputy Minister, Board, CEO and senior leadership on financial transactions and changing business conditions.
• Work with C-suite leaders to develop and advance investment opportunities.
• Support New Brunswick companies facing operational and financial challenges while protecting the province’s financial interests.
• Build relationships with business leaders, government stakeholders and community partners.
• Lead teams and communicate complex financial matters clearly to diverse audiences.
Qualifications
A minimum of 10 years of leadership experience is sought, preferably in a fast-growing or entrepreneurial organization, along with post-secondary education in business, finance, accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination. Significant commercial-lending experience, strong financial-management capability and the ability to structure and negotiate complex transactions are important. Strong interpersonal judgment, integrity, knowledge of financial regulation and reporting standards, and a collaborative approach are required. English proficiency is required; M&A experience is an asset.
