Associate, Finance and Operations

About the opportunity

Vaco is recruiting an Associate, Finance and Operations for a pension-plan investment company in Toronto. The position supports the Strategy & Operations team within Technology & Operations and contributes to financial management, workforce planning, reporting and operational improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare timely reporting and trend analysis using multiple information sources to support decision-making.
• Build working relationships with internal departments and senior leaders across and outside Technology & Operations.
• Coordinate three-year financial plans and quarterly forecasts using a zero-based budgeting approach.
• Analyze processes, systems and financial data to identify improvements and growth opportunities.
• Track departmental objectives and prepare summaries for senior audiences.
• Coordinate requirements gathering and provide testing support for new departmental systems and tools.
• Support project work and other ad hoc priorities as required.

The role is hybrid in Toronto and combines financial analysis, strategy and operational support.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or a related field.
• CPA designation is considered an asset.
• 5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, strategy or operations.
• Strong written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with critical and creative thinking.
• Candidate must currently reside in the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada.
