Junior Financial Analyst or Financial Analyst

About the opportunity

Vaco is recruiting a Junior Financial Analyst / Financial Analyst for a consumer-focused company in Calgary. The position joins an accounting team in a growth environment and supports month-end accounting, financial analysis and regulatory reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with month-end close through preparation and analysis of monthly journal entries and balance-sheet account schedules.
• Review accounts receivable and accounts payable listings and investigate unexpected variances.
• Support regulatory requirements, including Statistics Canada surveys and monthly GST filings.
• Assist with quarter-end review and year-end audit requests.
• Support plant cost-accounting transactions.
• Respond to ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests.
• Support internal stakeholders with day-to-day transactional needs.

The role is on-site in Calgary and is a current direct-hire vacancy.

• 1–3 years of experience in accounting or a related area.
• Diploma in accounting, or a combination of accounting work experience and a diploma in another specialty.
• Knowledge of full-cycle accounting, reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Ability to support month-end, regulatory reporting and audit activities.
• Candidate must currently reside in the Greater Calgary Area and be permitted to work in Canada.
