MIG Welder

MIG welding position in North York manufacturing furniture parts and components.

Job duties

• Check that welding equipment is safe and in proper working condition before use.
• Receive steel case assemblies from the previous operation.
• Use appropriate jigs and fixtures and operate manual MIG-welding equipment to join metal case components.
• Keep the work area clean and free of hazards.
• Complete other duties assigned by the Lead Hand or Supervisor.

Skills required

• A welding certificate from a reputable trade school is an asset.
• MIG welding experience; resistance welding and TIG welding are additional assets.
• Ability to read and interpret production drawings and schedules.
• Ability to push, pull and maneuver cases weighing up to 100 lb; cases over 50 lb are handled by two welders.
• Good hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Knowledge of Teknion quality standards and products is listed by the source.
• Consistent compliance with environmental, health and safety rules and procedures.
• Initiative in safe work practices, reporting and participation in EHS activities.

• Location: North York, Ontario (Keele/Steeles area).
• Pay: from $21.75 per hour.
• Shift: morning.
• Job type: temporary to full-time.
