Role description
Fly-in/fly-out Off-Road Heavy Duty Mechanic role at a modern mine facility in Nunavut. The position pays $60 per hour plus overtime, approximately $70 per hour over a 12-hour day, and follows a 21-days-on / 21-days-off rotation with both day and night shifts. Camp accommodation and meals are provided. The contract has strong potential to convert to a permanent role.
Key responsibilities
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair heavy and medium-duty mining equipment including dozers, loaders, excavators, graders, forklifts, skid steers and telehandlers.
• Service equipment from manufacturers such as CAT, Sandvik and Tamrock.
• Disassemble and overhaul engines, engine components, transmissions, drive-system components and related assemblies.
• Perform preventive maintenance and respond to breakdowns to support equipment availability.
• Provide technical support and coaching while contributing to the site’s Zero Harm safety objective.
Profile
Red Seal or Journeyperson Off-Road Heavy Equipment Technician / Heavy Duty Mechanic certification and at least five years of relevant experience are expected. Experience with off-road construction or mining equipment, rotational work and cold-climate conditions is highly relevant.
