Role description

CANVEC is hiring mobile mechanics specializing in trucks and/or semi-trailers in the Greater Montréal area. The mechanic receives an equipped mobile unit, travels to customer sites and performs maintenance and repairs directly in the field.

Main responsibilities

  • Analyze customer-reported problems and make recommendations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on trucks and semi-trailers.
  • Diagnose breakdowns and complete required repairs.
  • Use a tablet to record completed work and parts used.
  • Work independently from the mobile unit supplied by CANVEC.

Qualifications

  • Approximately 2 years of mechanical experience.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Own basic tools; CANVEC supplies the remaining equipment.
  • Basic mechanic certification is considered an asset.
  • PEP card is considered an asset.
  • Autonomy, resourcefulness and a service-oriented attitude.

Additional information

Area: Montréal and approximately a 70 km radius around Greater Montréal.

Status: permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday; 40 guaranteed hours per week.

Posted pay: CAD 24.50 to 36.50 gross per hour depending on experience.

CANVEC also advertises a CAD 1,500 to 3,500 hiring bonus for the person hired; this is separate from the public referral reward.

Public referral reward: CAD 1,000 if the referred mechanic is hired.
