Role overview

A Government of Alberta digital-regulatory program is seeking a Senior Data Architect for a six-month remote contract within Canada. The architect leads integration among a regulatory-assurance system, a Databricks-based data-management platform and the Alberta geospatial platform, defining how regulatory, environmental and spatial data is modeled, moved, governed and secured.

Responsibilities

• Define target-state architecture and conceptual/logical/physical data models.
• Design batch, near-real-time, event-driven, API and CDC integration patterns.
• Architect Databricks lakehouse structures with Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.
• Design spatial-data flows while preserving geometry and coordinate accuracy.
• Lead data-pipeline/interface design and resolve integration and data-quality issues.
• Embed governance, lineage, metadata, security and data-quality controls.
• Advise program leaders and mentor delivery teams.

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Geomatics or related field.
• 7+ years in data architecture/engineering/integration and at least 3 years as a Data Architect.
• Databricks, Delta Lake, Spark/PySpark/SQL and Unity Catalog.
• Enterprise integration, REST APIs, ETL/ELT, event streaming and CDC.
• Azure data-platform experience and geospatial-data knowledge.
• Strong governance, security, public-sector and communication capability.
