Role description
Role overview
Black & McDonald is seeking an Estimating Department Manager to lead the Atlantic Region estimating function across commercial, government, industrial, utility and institutional work. Reporting to the Regional Vice President, Maritimes, the role combines technical estimating leadership, team development, risk management and client/industry relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop the estimating team and manage staffing/workflow priorities.
- Oversee estimates for labour, materials, equipment and subcontracted work.
- Review bids, assess project risks/opportunities and support bid strategy.
- Engage suppliers, subcontractors, owners, consultants, designers and architects.
- Improve estimating procedures, tools, data and performance metrics.
- Partner with Operations on project handover, planning and execution.
Qualifications
What you bring
- 5-10+ years of progressive construction estimating experience.
- Demonstrated people-leadership experience.
- Knowledge of tendering, drawings, specifications, contracts and project risk.
- Experience with estimating platforms such as Accubid, Autobid, Bid2Win, Excel or similar.
- Degree, diploma, trade background or equivalent technical experience.
- PMP, Gold Seal, safety certifications and/or MBA are assets.
