Role description
Aboriginal Strategies is recruiting an experienced finance professional to support Indigenous programs, organizations and community-based projects through strong financial management, reporting and strategic guidance. The role manages financial operations for client programs and projects, prepares budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections and financial reports, monitors expenditures, and provides analysis that supports management decisions. It also ensures compliance with contribution agreements, accounting standards and regulations; coordinates audit preparation; strengthens internal controls and reporting processes; and provides financial guidance, mentorship and training to clients and community administrators. The successful candidate will work closely with Indigenous leaders, organizations, partner agencies and internal teams and may travel occasionally to client communities.
Qualifications
The role requires at least five years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with strong capability in accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow and audit support. Knowledge of fund accounting and contribution-agreement reporting is an asset. Candidates should be proficient in Excel, Word and financial systems and bring strong analytical, organizational and communication skills. A CPA, CAFM or other professional designation is considered an asset. Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, governance and community priorities is highly valued.
