Role description
About the opportunity
Waterstone Human Capital is recruiting a General Manager for a private 77-suite long-term care, complex care and memory-living residence in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Reporting to the Director of Operations & Sales, the General Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the residence, including resident care, programs, services, environmental coordination and financial performance.
Key responsibilities
• Lead and stabilize the residence’s leadership team and build consistent operating practices.
• Support high-quality resident care and regulatory compliance across the home.
• Oversee staffing, employee relations, risk management and operational standards.
• Manage operating and capital budgets as well as vendor and contractor needs.
• Support occupancy and the overall resident and family experience.
• Coach a leadership team that includes care, office, maintenance, food services, recreation/activities and sales functions.
• Work closely with both the business and clinical sides of long-term and complex care.
The residence is designed as a close-knit community, allowing the General Manager to work closely with residents, families and staff.
Qualifications
• 3–5+ years of progressive leadership experience in senior living, long-term care or a related healthcare environment.
• Experience leading through turnover, transition or organizational stabilization is valuable.
• Strong operations and people-leadership capability.
• Ability to manage budgets, staffing, vendors and resident-care operations.
• Clinical credibility is important; an RN or RPN designation is strongly preferred, although candidates with strong non-clinical operational leadership may also be considered.
