Lead Engineer, Applied ML (Remote within Canada)

Foundational engineering role at an early-stage company building AI analytics for multi-sensor data across commercial, regulatory and defence programs. The lead engineer works directly with the founder and owns the technical system end to end.

Responsibilities

• Build ingestion connectors and a unified schema for multi-source sensor data.
• Align and validate real-time streams and automate data-quality checks.
• Train supervised and unsupervised models for classification and anomaly detection.
• Optimize near-real-time inference and produce evaluation evidence for independent review.
• Build a live visualization layer with confidence scoring.
• Integrate pipelines, models and dashboards into secure containerized systems and support client deployment/testing.

Profile

• Strong full-stack background with production applied-ML experience.
• Real-time data-pipeline and systems-integration experience.
• Cloud infrastructure and container deployment experience; AWS preferred.
• Comfort acting as the primary technical owner.
• Signal processing, RF/sensor or defence/regulatory experience are assets.

Remote within Canada, EST preferred. Full-time or one-year contract. Base compensation approximately C$220,000–C$450,000 plus equity for full-time hires.
