Senior / Staff Backend Engineer – Core Platform

Senior backend/platform role at a rapidly scaling Toronto B2B infrastructure startup. The team aggregates and standardizes high-volume IoT and sensor data for enterprise clients and needs engineers to shape its distributed API platform.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy scalable backend services and public APIs on AWS.
• Build resilient integration layers for complex third-party data sources.
• Develop orchestration, authentication and monitoring components.
• Work directly with enterprise customers on integration strategy and technical roadblocks.
• Improve engineering standards and automated development tooling.

Profile

• Deep experience with large-scale distributed systems and APIs.
• Strong TypeScript and Node.js production experience.
• Track record integrating difficult external APIs and data pipelines.
• Comfort working directly with enterprise customers.
• AWS event-driven/serverless architectures, workflow orchestration and JVM exposure are assets.

Downtown Toronto with approximately four office days per week. Compensation advertised up to C$300,000+ plus comprehensive benefits, wellness/professional-development stipends and four weeks of paid time off.
