Senior / Staff Software Engineer – Core Data Infrastructure

Foundational systems-engineering role with a fast-growing Toronto B2B technology company operating high-volume data aggregation infrastructure. The engineer owns distributed systems that ingest, process and store large time-series and spatial datasets.

Responsibilities

• Design high-throughput streaming and batch-processing systems.
• Build scalable storage for rapidly growing time-series and spatial data.
• Make architecture decisions for fault tolerance and aggressive scaling.
• Create automated tooling for data quality, lineage and reliability.
• Define reusable technical abstractions across product lines.
• Write production code primarily in Java and Python.

Profile

• Experience designing distributed backend or data platforms at terabyte/petabyte scale.
• Deep computer-science and system-architecture fundamentals.
• Advanced JVM-language experience such as Java, Scala or Kotlin.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale processing, event streaming and data warehousing/lakehouse concepts.
• High autonomy in ambiguous technical environments.

Toronto-based role with compensation advertised up to C$300,000. Engineers own their domains end to end and work closely with product users.
