Role description
Position overview
Field-based heavy-duty mechanic role with an established Western Canadian company serving customers in Canada and the U.S. The technician works from the Red Deer area, travels to service calls in a company truck and supports specialized heavy equipment used across pulp and paper, oil and gas, rail, transportation and manufacturing.
Role details
- Diagnose, maintain and repair heavy equipment in the field.
- Work independently from a company-provided service vehicle.
- Manage customer interactions professionally and organize field activity like an owner/operator.
- Overtime is available; living-out allowance applies to overnight work.
Compensation
$45–$50/hour depending on experience, plus pension, profit sharing, benefits and company service truck.
Qualifications
- 5+ years mechanic experience.
- Journeyman or Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician.
- Driveline and engine experience strongly beneficial.
- Strong mechanical aptitude; electrical knowledge valued.
- Strong troubleshooting/problem-solving and customer-service skills.
- Clear spoken and written English.
