Backend Engineer, API

hireVouch is recruiting a Backend API Engineer for a remote Canadian technology mandate. The engineer joins a core API team supporting a mature platform used by millions of users and processing thousands of requests per second. The API layer powers both external developer access and internal tools involving user data, task orchestration, billing, permissions and asset management.

The role owns API design through monitoring and documentation, builds asynchronous workflows for orchestration and content-processing pipelines, optimizes high-traffic PostgreSQL queries, develops rate-limiting, fraud-detection and credit-management capabilities, strengthens API security and authentication, improves developer documentation and SDK tooling, and raises the performance, reliability and quality of the codebase.

• 3+ years of industry experience building production APIs.
• Strong TypeScript experience.
• Experience owning systems end-to-end, including infrastructure, monitoring, logging, metrics and incident response.
• Understanding of REST/API design patterns and asynchronous workflows.
• Relational-database experience, preferably PostgreSQL, including query optimization.
• Experience architecting production systems at scale using AWS, GCP or Azure primitives.
• Ability to prototype quickly and iterate against product deadlines.
