Staff Database Reliability Engineer

hireVouch is recruiting a Staff Database Reliability Engineer for a remote Canadian mandate supporting an extremely high-throughput platform operating globally distributed infrastructure. The position is an individual-contributor role with staff-level architectural influence across database systems, platform engineering, infrastructure, software, operations and data teams.

Responsibilities include designing and evolving distributed database systems for performance, availability and continuity, simplifying the platform footprint, automating provisioning and maintenance, establishing monitoring and incident-response practices, diagnosing difficult performance problems, leading root-cause reviews, shaping the technical roadmap and mentoring engineers. The published environment includes relational and distributed databases, Kubernetes and bare metal, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD and observability tooling.

• 7+ years across database reliability engineering, DBA, data-focused SRE, platform engineering or comparable infrastructure work.
• Experience operating large-scale production database systems with demanding reliability, latency and performance requirements.
• Deep expertise with relational/distributed data technologies; the listing names MySQL, MariaDB, Galera, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Aerospike, Redis, StarRocks and Vertica among examples.
• Experience with stateful systems on Kubernetes and bare metal.
• Strong automation and infrastructure-tooling skills such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, GitLab CI/CD or ArgoCD.
• Scripting/programming ability and strong observability/troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to operate at staff level and influence teams outside the immediate domain.
