Project Manager – Building Restoration

About the opportunity

MatchBox is recruiting a Project Manager for a growing engineering consultancy’s Building Restoration team in Calgary.

The role manages restoration projects through the full lifecycle, from initial investigation and condition assessment through design, tendering, construction administration and closeout.

Key responsibilities

• The project manager develops restoration concepts, scopes, specifications, reports and drawings; prepares proposals, fees, schedules and resource plans; coordinates clients, contractors, architects and other disciplines; chairs meetings; manages tendering and contractor selection; reviews invoices and change orders; and provides technical direction during construction.
• The position also includes mentoring junior technical staff and maintaining strong client and industry relationships.

Qualifications

• Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, architectural engineering or a related discipline and at least five years of experience in building restoration, building-envelope work or structural restoration.
• A P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA is required.
• The role calls for experience managing projects from design through construction, understanding budgets, schedules and scopes, preparing technical reports and specifications, handling construction administration and communicating directly with clients and contractors.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, Microsoft Office skills, a valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are required.

Position details

• Permanent direct-hire role in Calgary, Alberta.
• Occasional travel within Canada, with most projects in Alberta.
