Production Manager

Role overview

Trevor Frances Recruitment is recruiting a hands-on Production Manager for a growing Calgary rebond carpet-cushion manufacturing facility. The leader is expected to spend substantial time on the production floor, build trust with employees and supervisors and shape a plant culture centered on safety, employee engagement, accountability and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

The Production Manager owns daily safety culture, huddles, toolbox talks, hazard and near-miss reporting and incident follow-up. The role plans and oversees production to meet volume, quality, cost and delivery targets, leads scheduling/coaching/performance management, tracks throughput, yield, waste and on-time completion and works with Maintenance, procurement and warehouse teams to improve flow and equipment uptime. The manager also drives Lean/Kaizen/Six Sigma improvements and ensures compliance with Alberta OHS, WHMIS and internal EHS requirements.

• 5+ years of production or manufacturing leadership experience, ideally in foam, rubber, textiles or process manufacturing.
• Experience leading teams in a unionized manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated success building safety culture.
• Practical Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma or similar continuous-improvement experience.
• Knowledge of production scheduling, inventory flow and manufacturing cost drivers.
• Familiarity with Alberta OHS and WHMIS.
• Strong people leadership and communication skills.
• Post-secondary education in operations, engineering, manufacturing or related field is an asset; equivalent experience is considered.
