Project Engineer - Montreal

Role overview

Trevor Frances Recruitment is recruiting a Project Engineer for a well-established Montréal manufacturing organization. The engineer leads capital expenditure, process-improvement and continuous-improvement projects from concept through implementation, developing scopes, schedules, budgets, resource plans and technical specifications and coordinating work so projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

Engineering responsibilities

The role designs manufacturing-process improvements, automation solutions and equipment modifications; develops conceptual designs, layouts, calculations and technical documents; prepares cost estimates and procurement specifications; coordinates contractors and suppliers; tracks project risks/progress in ERP systems; supports root-cause problem solving and maintains drawings and project records. The engineer also evaluates opportunities to improve throughput, reliability and manufacturing efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 5–8 years of project engineering or project-management experience in manufacturing.
• Capital-project and continuous-improvement experience.
• Automation and manufacturing-systems experience.
• Computer Integrated Manufacturing knowledge.
• AutoCAD or comparable CAD proficiency and ERP project-system experience.
• Strong project planning, budgeting, analytical and stakeholder-management skills.
• Continuous manufacturing/fibre-processing experience is an asset.
