Senior Buyer

Role

Burnaby School District is recruiting a Senior Buyer for its Purchasing team. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Services, the position protects the integrity of public procurement, develops contracts and negotiations, and supports strategic purchasing decisions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate public tenders, analyze bids, select vendors and administer contracts.
• Prepare and approve purchase orders and research equipment, pricing and specifications.
• Manage supplier performance and resolve vendor issues while minimizing legal risk.
• Analyze market information, forecast major spend areas and support purchasing guidelines.
• Coordinate and review the work of support staff.

• SCMP designation or equivalent.
• 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Strong procurement knowledge and Microsoft Office skills.
• Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Public-sector and construction procurement experience is preferred.

Regular full-time, 35 hours per week. Hybrid with up to two work-from-home days per week after probation. Compensation is $42.43/hour plus benefits and pension participation.
