Junior Business Analyst

Wirehead is recruiting a Junior Business Analyst for a 135-day on-site government contract in Toronto. The assignment supports business and systems analysis, requirements management, workflow improvement and stakeholder coordination in an Ontario public-sector environment.

Role focus

• Gather, analyze and document business, data and system requirements.
• Translate business needs into use cases, user stories and clear acceptance criteria for IT solutions.
• Create process models, Visio diagrams and swim-lane diagrams to document current and future workflows.
• Analyze business problems and recommend practical process or system improvements.
• Support systems re-engineering, workflow optimization and identification of automation opportunities.
• Perform database-oriented analysis using SQL and support data-driven decision making.

Stakeholder & delivery activities

• Act as a bridge between business users, IT teams and external vendors.
• Participate in or lead requirements workshops, JAD sessions and stakeholder interviews.
• Document and present business needs in a way technical teams can use.
• Facilitate discussions and help align stakeholders with different priorities.
• Support Agile/Scrum, Kanban and Waterfall delivery environments.

Tools & platforms

• JIRA, Confluence and Azure DevOps for requirements tracking and collaboration.
• Visio, Lucidchart, MIRO and Figma for process and workflow visualization.
• SharePoint and Microsoft Teams for document and team collaboration.
• Power BI, SQL and Advanced Excel are useful for data-driven analysis.
• ERP, CRM and cloud-based business solutions are considered relevant assets.

Required experience

• Proven experience gathering, analyzing and documenting business, system and data requirements.
• Business-analysis experience using Visio and swim-lane diagrams.
• Ability to define use cases, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Experience with systems re-engineering and workflow optimization.
• Database-analysis experience and working knowledge of SQL.
• Experience leading or participating in requirements workshops, JAD sessions and stakeholder interviews.
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence and Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of Ontario Public Sector procurement, regulatory compliance and service-delivery models.

Assets / broader knowledge

• Experience in Ontario Public Sector or another government environment.
• Familiarity with OPS governance frameworks such as Stage Gate, ITIL and security policies.
• Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, Kanban and Waterfall methodologies.
• Familiarity with Power BI, advanced Excel, ERP, CRM or cloud-based business solutions.
