General Manager

General Manager opportunity with Shean Co-op in Inverness, Nova Scotia. The member-owned co-operative has served the local community for decades, generates more than $8 million in annual sales and employs roughly 35 people. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager is responsible for the organization’s overall leadership, operational performance and community presence.

Key responsibilities
• Lead day-to-day operations across the Co-op’s retail and grocery activities.
• Manage budgets, financial performance, inventory and operating priorities.
• Lead, support and develop employees and maintain clear accountability across the team.
• Strengthen customer and member service and maintain relationships within the community.
• Set operational plans and priorities and ensure the organization meets financial and service goals.
• Work with the Board on planning, reporting and decisions that affect the future of the Co-op.
• Identify opportunities to improve operations and support sustainable growth.

Profile
Leadership experience in retail, grocery, co-operative or comparable multi-function operations is preferred. The role requires strong budgeting and people-management capability, customer-service orientation, practical operational judgment and comfort working directly with a community-oriented board and member base.
