Role description
Organization & mandate
The New Brunswick SPCA is seeking its next CEO through a retained Hawthorne search. The organization combines a charitable animal-welfare mandate with statutory enforcement responsibilities, operates with roughly a $3.5M budget and a team of 24, including a unionized enforcement group, and has a board-approved strategy through 2028.
Priorities
- Grow philanthropy, community visibility and corporate giving.
- Strengthen government relations and advocate for modernized animal-welfare legislation.
- Diversify revenue and maintain financial sustainability.
- Deepen partnerships with independent shelters and modernize finance, HR and administrative systems.
- Lead a unionized workforce and handle complex public and stakeholder issues.
Qualifications
- Broad executive leadership capability with strategy, governance, finance and people management.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership, including 5+ years managing people and budgets, is valued.
- Experience with boards, strategic planning, fundraising and stakeholder relationships is valuable.
- Bilingual English/French capability and an authentic connection to New Brunswick or Atlantic Canada are valued.
- CFRE, CPA, CPHR or PMP designations are assets, not requirements.
