Lead Electrical Engineer

Role

Natural Forces Solar is hiring a senior electrical engineer in Dartmouth to take projects from concept through construction. The position sits in a five-person engineering team and combines hands-on design with technical direction and checking of other engineers’ work; it is not a people-management role.

Responsibilities

• Own detailed electrical design through IFC, including single-line diagrams, protection and control, grounding, specifications and drawings.
• Act as Engineer of Record on assigned projects and support power-system studies, equipment selection, construction and commissioning.
• Provide technical review and mentoring to EITs, a newer P.Eng. and co-op students.

Work arrangement

Hybrid in Burnside, Dartmouth, with Mondays in office. Site work is typically two to three days per month during construction, with longer commissioning periods and some travel in Nova Scotia and Quebec.

• Degree in electrical engineering.
• 6+ years of electrical design experience in solar, renewables, power systems, utilities, consulting or industrial settings.
• Experience producing IFC drawings and conducting power-system studies; ETAP experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of CSA C22.1, C22.3 and IEEE standards.
• P.Eng. registration in Nova Scotia is preferred; the employer will support a qualified candidate progressing toward Canadian licensure.
• SCADA, battery energy storage and French/Quebec practice capability are assets.
