Operations Manager – Industrial Automation

IN DEMAND Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is conducting a confidential search for an Operations Manager for a specialized industrial-automation equipment manufacturer in the North GTA / York Region.

Mandate

The role combines production leadership, purchasing, supplier management, planning and continuous improvement in a manufacturing operation of roughly 30 employees. Working closely with the Director of Operations, the manager will align materials, resources and production schedules with customer commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily and weekly production execution and resolve operational bottlenecks.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and lead times, and support reliable material availability.
• Balance inventory availability and working-capital investment while reducing shortages and excess stock.
• Implement practical Lean tools including 5S, visual management, standard work and root-cause problem solving.
• Coach purchasing and production teams and strengthen accountability.
• Partner with sales, engineering and finance to align capacity and purchasing decisions with customer requirements.
• Track on-time delivery, inventory turns, purchase-price variance and safety performance.
• Lead initiatives that reduce waste, improve productivity, shorten lead times and control cost.

• 5–8 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, production and/or purchasing, including team leadership.
• Experience in equipment, industrial or capital-goods manufacturing.
• Practical knowledge of production scheduling, material availability and shop-floor execution.
• Supplier-management and purchasing-negotiation experience with understanding of cost and profitability impacts.
• Demonstrated Lean or continuous-improvement experience.
• Ability to simplify processes, establish priorities and carry improvements through.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Post-secondary education in operations, supply chain, engineering or business.
• APICS/CPIM, SCMP or Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Conditions et rémunération

• Permanent, full-time, on-site role in North GTA / York Region, Ontario.
• Typical business hours with occasional evening or weekend requirements.
• Minimal travel, mostly within the GTA, with very occasional overnight travel.
• Target base salary: CAD 105,000–130,000 per year plus bonus.
