Underground and Surface Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Role overview

IVEY Group is recruiting a permanent full-time Heavy Equipment Mechanic for underground and surface mining equipment in Canada. The mechanic inspects, diagnoses, repairs and maintains complex mobile equipment and works across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and powertrain systems while keeping complete service records and following mine-safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Inspect heavy equipment, test performance and identify faults or malfunctions.
• Use computerized and other diagnostic equipment to determine required repairs.
• Repair or replace components and systems with hand and power tools and test completed repairs.
• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication and preventive maintenance.
• Disassemble and reassemble diesel/gas engines, transmissions and differentials.
• Read hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic diagrams and document completed work.

• More than five years of heavy-equipment experience in underground or surface mining.
• Secondary school and a craft/trade certificate are mandatory.
• Basic computer skills and strong diagnostic ability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s licence in good standing.
• High accuracy and manual dexterity.
