Role description
Current CPA Ontario legal-team role reporting to the Senior Vice President, Enforcement. The counsel prosecutes allegations of professional misconduct before discipline and appeal committees and the courts, advises the Professional Conduct Committee, oversees investigations and may handle Provincial Offences Act prosecutions involving misuse of the CPA designation. The role also appoints and directs investigators, reviews investigation reports, develops policies and provides legal advice across the organization. CPA Ontario offers a flexible hybrid arrangement at Yonge and Bloor in Toronto.
Qualifications
Minimum 15+ years of litigation experience, preferably prosecution/plaintiff-side, from a regulator, government, law firm or regulated corporation; independent carriage of investigation/prosecution files; disciplinary/self-regulatory or criminal-prosecution experience preferred; tribunal/court advocacy and administrative-law knowledge.
