Senior AI Engineer (GCP/Vertex AI) Contract

About the opportunity

TekRek is recruiting a senior AI/ML engineer for an Ontario-based contract with a Canadian health-benefits organization.

The engineer will build production generative-AI systems primarily on Google Cloud, including Vertex AI, Gemini, Agent Builder and managed pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• The assignment covers the full lifecycle from business scoping through testing and production support.
• Responsibilities include building evaluation frameworks and golden datasets, designing human-review and rollback mechanisms, monitoring drift and token spend, integrating AI services with legacy systems and UiPath automations and working directly with business users to confirm that releases solve real operational problems.

Qualifications

• Candidates should bring five to ten years of software, ML or AI engineering experience, including at least two years delivering generative AI into production.
• Hands-on GCP Vertex AI and strong Python are central; production work with Azure AI Foundry or AWS Bedrock may also be considered.
