Senior Machine Learning Engineer

About the opportunity

TekRek is recruiting a Senior Machine Learning Engineer in Montreal for client work spanning classical machine learning, deep learning and generative AI.

The engineer takes business problems from initial framing through model development and production deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Responsibilities include training and shipping ML and deep-learning models, building and maintaining MLOps workflows and monitoring, fine-tuning foundation models, designing RAG systems, working directly with clients to define trade-offs and evaluating models on large data sets while keeping systems scalable and reliable in production.
• The role combines hands-on engineering, consulting and ownership through the full ML lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Candidates need at least four years of machine-learning engineering or closely related experience, including production systems.
• Strong Python and practical work with PyTorch, TensorFlow or Scikit-learn are expected, covering both structured-data models and deep-learning architectures.
• The posting asks for practical LLM experience, including fine-tuning, prompt engineering and RAG pipelines using vector databases and embeddings, plus familiarity with MLOps tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow or Airflow and experience on AWS, Azure or GCP.
• French is preferred.
• Client-facing consulting, LangChain or LlamaIndex, Spark, SQL, Docker, Kubernetes and model governance are strong assets.

Position details

• Full-time hybrid role in Montreal, Quebec, with three days per week in the office.
• Public TekRek range: CAD 140,000–160,000 per year plus annual bonus.
